Sergio Lugaresi

Sergio Lugaresi is a financial economics and regulation expert with deep knowledge of international financial supervision. From 2013 to 2020, he advised the Italian Banking Association, monitoring the establishment of the Single Supervisory Mechanism at the ECB.
He collaborated with the ECB, ESRB, and Bundesbank and was Vice Chairman of the European Banking Authority’s Banking Stakeholder Group (2019–2020). Between 2020 and 2023, he was Executive Director at the Asian Development Bank for six European countries, serving as Dean of the Board and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee.
He focused on financial regulation, fiscal policy, and climate change, advocating for Italian companies in ADB projects. Previously, he held senior roles at the World Bank, UniCredit, Capitalia, Banco di Roma, and the IMF. He has published on economic policy and lectures at the University of Milan and LUISS Guido Carli.
